National Coalition of Polling Units Ambassador (NACOPUAM) has kicked against the endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by the Northern Leaders Consultative Forum (NLCF).
NLCF had in a communique signed by Prof. Doknan DD Sheni and former Minister of Water Resources, Mukhtari Shehu Shagari, adopted PDP and Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket as the right choice for the country.
But in a swift reaction, NACOPUAM at a press conference held on Monday, in Lagos, expressed disappointment on the declaration of the Northern leaders.
Speaking for the coalition, the convener /project director, Taiwo Ajayi said the endorsement of PDP and it presidential candidate, Atiku by NLCF was a joke taking too far.
” We regard the so called endorsement of PDP and Atiku as an unfortunate situation, how can they even support the idea of a Northerner handing over to another Northerner at this time when other regions were seriously complaining and calling for equal opportunities and balancing in the democratic arrangements of governance in our dear country, Nigeria, we cannot imagine the moral justification behind the endorsement of a Northerner again after the 8 years of a northerner
“We therefore, want to advise the elders in question to stop what our we refer to as an act that can set our country ablaze, we would therefore advice the northern elders in question to please change their mind set and support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed of APC as their prefer presidential candidate for 2023 elections in the spirit of fairness, true democratic values, also on his mission to transform Nigeria for the betterment of the citizens irrespective of the tribe and colour”, he said.
Ajayi disclosed that NACOPUAM was a project of necessity initiated by Asiwaju Pesidential Agenda .
Adding that the coalition was born out of genuine desire to make good use of many Tinubu/Shettima Support Groups that had been working tirelessly without any serious recognition by breaking them into polling units with specific assignment to be carry out in their different locality.
