Nigerian singer, Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, has claimed that he and his former producer and record label boss, Don Jazzy, created “the syllabus of music.”

He said a lot of people read through what he and Don Jazzy did and took from it and created their own sounds.

The ‘Bumper 2 Bumper’ crooner made the claim during a recent interview with Cool FM, Lagos.

He, however, said there was nothing wrong with the youngsters copying what he and Don Jazzy did.

He said, “Me and Don Jazzy have always had a bond. He knows I always come with energy. Even in the studio, I’m always pumped. I’m like, yo, let’s do this sound. And he makes sure he kills it.

“So, it’s like symbiotic [relationship]. I feel like me and Don Jazzy created the syllabus of music. We created a syllabus of music and a lot of people read that and then took what they had to take to create their own. And that is what is happening now.

“There is no problem with that as long as we are still here making magic with the new generation’s sounds.”

Wande Coal and Don Jazzy worked together at the defunct Mo’hits Record and Mavin before parting ways in 2013.
